Essay #2
At least 3 reasons why you agree with the side you are arguing for:
1. I think we should have two extra courses so the students could learn about the things in the real world
2. The first class I would choose would be a mandatory cooking class.
3. The second class should be fake marriages to show how hard real life is
I believe that adding two classes to our curriculum would make a drastic enhancement on our real world knowledge. Most of us students go home and have know idea how to pay bills or how to fill out applications for jobs. Thats something that every teen should know how to do before the leave high school. Teaching us this will help us tremendously. I would love being able to do all these things such as parenting, bill paying, and cooking. Being able to cook is one of the most important things.
I think we should add a mandatory course to the school curriculum. I think there should be a course in which students are in fake marriages with other classmates. Each couple should be allotted a certain amount of money that they earn from a job that they get , which should be assigned by the teacher. Then they should have everyday bills that most people have such as insurance, rent/mortgage, phone bill, electric, water, etc. They should also be assigned a life like baby that cry’s and they have to figure out what’s wrong with the baby, if its hungry, sleepy, or needs changed. In this course I think it would be very valuable to students in the future as far as the stresses of the real life of making money and paying bills and still buy food and diapers. Also I think the baby should be swapped from the male to the female parent to take home, this way the male and the female can get an idea of what it is like to have a baby. I think this would be a good way to drop the rate of teen pregnancy.
I think another good course to add to the curriculum would be a cooking class that is also mandatory. How many boys leave home and have to eat microwavable foods, fast food, or rely on a female to feed them? Today girls also leave home without knowing how to cook. With this course students would know how to cook. Therefore eating out, which is full of grease and fat, would cut down which would cut down obesity. This way they would know what is in their food and who has touched their food, how it is prepared and cooked. They could learn about and discover new foods.
I believe that adding these new classes would help our school in several different ways. We wouldn't be so clueless while going into adulthood. We would be independent and understand how to deal with the difficulties in life. People wouldn’t really like the class in the beginning but in the future they would appreciate it very much
